HF Hammer Drill???

So I am mounting my compressor to my garage floor and I need to drill 4 holes into it for anchors. I thought my rather potent 3/8 drill and a masonry bit would get it done.....yeah right. The floor is laughing at me, so I'm thinking a hammer drill would work much better. I don't know if I'll ever have the need for a hammer drill again so I thought about buying one from HF, anybody have any experience with them?

If this will be a one-shot deal, just rent one. You'll get a much better more powerful piece of equipment, and it'll cost less.

2nd the renting of one. Especially since most places rent ones like Hilti. You might have to buy the bit, but it will still probably wind up being cheaper than a HF hammer drill. But I dont especially trust HF electric tools much like drills and saws.

But then here is another option for you. If your compressor came on a skid, leave it on it. If not, maybe you can find a decent skid for free or next to nothing, I would use that. I have helped install 4 compressors like that, and not one of them moves, plus it helps dampen the vibration noise to the floor.

The problem with renting one where I live is nothing is cheap here. The HF drill can function as a regular drill, since I'll only use it for 4 holes I might use it and bring it back. The other option leaving it on the skid looks a bit too redneck for me, besides there is a reason the manufacturer states not to operate on the shipping skid.

I bought one from HF to drill some holes in a concrete slab. Worked with no problems. Drilled about 14 holes. That was about 4 years ago and have not used it since then. Buy a good quality bit.

I bought a 3/8s, all-plastic Makita a few years--maybe 10 years ago. Don't use it a lot, but man, it goes into concrete like wood, and stucco like butter. A worthy addition to the tool shed methinks. 3/8" or 1/2" holes are child's play.

bought a HF in the plastic kit box, it has the sds chuck and drills/chisels even extra brushes for the motor, looks like a Bosch copy
was on special for $69 about 4 years ago
drilled 25/30 1" holes 6" deep
it worked great
it's sitting on the shelf in the shop, haven't used it since
I'd buy it

too late bought it used it and taking it back. Whats up with the depth gauge? It would not clamp tight enough so it's going back anyway, but otherwise it worked great.
