cel how to read codes?

hey guys got a 1996 f150 im want to do the check engine light flash the code thingy on fordfuelinjection.com but i cant find the port that the wire goes to the battery... is it hidden somewhere? i do have a port in the cab that says data link? can i use this?

Check on the driver side of the engine compartment- there should be two plug connectors that don't connect to anything. One of them is a single pin connector and that's the one you want to ground.

I think the 96 is OBDII, which means you need a code reader for the plug inside. I think what you are referring to is OBDI which is outside under the hood on older trucks..
