Bad Sensor?

Went to pull my truck into the shop yesterday morning to do a transmission flush and power steering flush. Was about 20 degrees out, fired right up, but when i hit the go pedal, nothing, just sat there idling like i had never even touched the pedal. As it warmed up, the pedal started to slowly work better. Once warmed all the way up, it was fine.

I assume this is the little electronic sending box on the go pedal?

Thanks, Tom

I seem to remember a similar problem before I changed my CPS? Been awhile since I did it and I have senior moments. Could have been before I changed the up-pipes also, was having problems with the EBPV.

I don't think it is your cps.. There is a circuit for your pedal response.. probably is going bad.. Someone will give you more info on this..

There is a microswitch on the throttle pedal that must work or you end up with the problems you describe.

Check to be sure you hear the Idle Validation Switch (IVS).

If it gets dirty, it can become intermittent. Then, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) thinks the pedal has no foot pressure and remains at idle.

It's just a small microswitch mounted in the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).

You should be able to hear it "click".

You might try cleaning it with electrical "contact cleaner".

Thanks

Thanks all, will pick up some contact cleaner tomorrow and give it a try there to start. Any idea what that go pedal costs if I do have to replace it?

Thanks, Tom

If you turn on the key but don't start press on the pedal and you should hear a slight click and then the same when you let it off. Do this multiple times before and after cleaning.
