Bleed screw thread size?

Hi all,

Well I had been hoping to get my new Power Slot cryo rotors in so I could do the job over this holiday weekend, but such is not the case. The Hawk SD pads came in after just a few days but from what I was told the rotors get sent out for cryo treatment as they are ordered so that accounts for the delay. I have one set of four new caliper slide pins standing by in case I need them. I just have a quick question or two if anyone can give me some input on them....

First off, I want to get some Speed Bleeders but I'm having a hard time nailing down for sure what the thread size is. The application chart lists the part number as SB 1010 for my truck but the guys at Advance couldn't cross reference it. I'm guessing that this is a 10mm X 1.0 thread. Can anyone confirm that?

Second, what's the consensus on using DOT 5 (synthetic as I understand it) brake fluid? Once I have the speed bleeders installed it won't be a big deal to flush the system even a couple times a year if I want to, but are there any notable advantages to using DOT 5 vs Dot 3 or 4?

Thanks for any input, as always it's appreciated.....

I can't speak for the bleeder sizes, but the difference in the fluids is the boiling point. This link talks about the differences DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5 Jim’s Garage.
