Seems to be coming from the passenger side of the dash. It's like a ticking or clicking. I can hit the dash with my fist and NOT replicate the noise. It is unaffected by the blower motor or temp/vent settings. It's just constant, it's like there's something just tapping against a piece of vinyl from the road vibrations. Sounds like a bead in a plastic container bouncing around. On the interstate it seems to go away, probably due to the smoother road and less variation in surface. This rattle is absolutely driving me crazy, I am considering selling my truck because of it.
Does anyone know what this is?
I have seen other post about similar noises, but no solutions....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

have someone drive you around while you look for the noise.is the noise inside or outside of the truck.i wouldnt sell it ,just turn the radio up.ford stated when i worked in the dealership that if the noise couldnt be heard above the 3rd bar on the radio then the noise was acceptible.

The noise is definitely in the dash. I do turn up the radio, but when I have people in the vehicle or anything it is obnoxious, Maybe I am just a little crazy but I know that other people have had a similar noise and somebody has had to have figured it out!
If you pull out the oval on the passenger side of the dash (it snaps in) there is a relay block right under that oval portion that could be the source of your clicking. It runs the 4x4, autolamps, etc. - I'm not super familiar with the opreation but if you have autolamps that are malfunctioning the light sensor could maybe be clicking the relay on or off? I dunno just shots in the dark...
Something left in the dash is a possibility, I bought the truck used, so I don't know it there was work done in there or not. As far as the relay goes, all lights and everything works great, I did go in there and checked all connectors to see if something might have been making to noise. I almost wonder if something worked its way into the bottom of the duct work, and is bouncing around in the bottom of the vent. Can that be accessed without removing the entire dash?
if the truck has even been around a pine tree , that mayb the answer to your question. a pine needle shas gotten in to the air intake for the a/c system and is being chewed up by the fan. mine did a few before i figgured it out
Pine needles are a possibility, but it seems to sound more like a tapping (plastic on plastic). It seems to go with the bumps, and vibration in the road. I am just going to have to tear apart the dash!
