When i got my truck which is an 83 6.9 diesel i put a brand new fuel pump in it, and changed fuel filter a few times. ive tried sea foam and atf type f and im still having the same problem. When i start the truck it will idle for about 10min. and even when you put your foot to the floor and hold the gas down it still stalls. It totally seems to cut out all power to the throttle, because when i feel it begin to stale i can floor it and it still "slowly dies..." And when i check the fuel filter after it dies it not totally full. So to get it to restart i fill it back up and crank it a few times, and it fires up. Any ideas of what this could be? New to diesels......
the return lines are the hoses that run between the injectors and they might be wet around the tee's on the injectors.and when you bleed air from the lines after opening up the fuel system anywhere you loosen a few injector lines and crank it over and you will hear it try to start then stop cranking and tighten the injector lines.the injector lines that run into the top of the injectors.i think its a 3/4" wrench but not sure
i rethought what i just said.
just loosen the hard injector lines on the top of the injectors 3 or 4 will be enough probably.and give it a few cranks til it tries to take off then tighten the lines back up and the air is out of the system.
if your RETURN lines are wet it could be allowing air to leak in over time.and you would need a $30-35 return line kit.
i tried to explain as good as i could but reading it i can see how it would be hard to follow if you dont know much about these motors
