Today, I had a bad accident. While replacing the high pressure pump, I cracked off a fitting for the fuel/water separator canister. It is the one on the driver's side on top. The fitting is made to a piece that bolts on to the canister. Inside is a spring and plunger. I can not find one almost anywhere. I did find one on fleabay for $369.99. HOLY COW!!! I ordered what the local Ford dealer said it was, which is the front mount cover that the two front bolts go into and along with the canister. I really don't think that he is right. He was using a sheet that HE said it was on. He tells me that it is going to cost me $155. I think that when it comes in, it will not be right.
DANG!!! It was the last thing that needed to be done!!!
This really sucks...
Does anybody know where I can locate one?
I already had the dealer get one just in case, but I can always tell him that I don't need it if I do something else...
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Is this what you're looking for? Replacement O-rings for Diesel Engines If you're in a hurry, try your local IH dealer, also. I have one I could mail to you, if you can wait for it. PM me, if you want it.
I have been a member for a little while here and usually do not post much. I am usually satisfied by reading and reading and searching all of the posts. I have learned a lot though. I just added the 6637 filter and then this is when the pump went out. This is the second one in 11,000 miles. At least it was still under warranty. I personally did not go to the dealer. I have a warranty on the truck and they told me where I had to get the parts. My brother's garage did the work. Ford warrantied the pump and the warranty company warrantied the labor. I was helping to put it all back together because he was really busy and know my around the shop so that I could have my girl back on the road. I did the first one and it was a breeze. It takes so long because all of the fittings are in a place made for "bear paws" to take the off.
I was almost done and pop! my bubble was busted...
This Feb. I am going to install a 4" exhaust and a DP unit. That ought to wake her up a little. I use her a lot for towing.
I really appreciate all of the help though. Thanks guys!!!
I know, but I want to keep that part of the system as from factory for now... And by asking for help, everyone stepped up and gave me more help than I asked for. I appreciate it too.
Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Ordered mine from the link Roland posted above and it was here in 3 days. Thanks goodness for Bob's excellent site!!!
Well, here's the update. Just as I thought, those limp &%$#s at the stealership ordered the wrong thang! Just like I told 'em yesterday. It was the front section that the canister bolts to all by it's self. But I gave the Ford part number that I was given. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! He pulled up a drawing and it had the complete parts picture for the entire canister and all. Turns out that part number was for the actual pressure relief valve itself. But, I got the right part anyway this evening and I am going to the garage tomorrow to put my baby back on the road.
Everything else is done except for installing the new part, line, and putting the battery terminals back on, AFTER I clean them and put on the NAOLOX. (Read that post too!!!) I already had a bottle of that stuff from when I used to do electrical work... I'm a happy Muddr#%$@er!!!!!!!!!
Hope you ordered new seals for the fuel lines, too. Here's what mine looked like when I had to pull my HPOP this week (the five pieces of torn up seals on the right):

I had to get the fuel line sleeves as a kit (all 6) from the stealership (~$23) when I did my Stealth HPOP. I had left the one's I got from Bob in Louisiana when Rick and I replaced my injectors. Rick sent them to me later when I realized they were missing. Thanks Rick!
I also got the kit at the stealership for the seals. Today, I fixed the lines, and installed the new relief valve housing with a new seal. Changed the oil and filter. And, YES SOMETHING ELSE!!!!! No start. Turned over fine, but no start. You know that very last, little, nerve that you have cause crap keeps happening? Well, it snapped on me... I was saying a LOT OF BAD WORDS and throwing tools. Started checking everything. All seemed fine. After a couple of hours trying everything and checking the book... I happened to see in the book a pic of the ICP. I remember looking at it and just noticed that the sleeve and the solenoid were swapped. I wondered if it meant anything and I went out and swapped it around. From the pump looking down at it, I put the solenoid, then the spacer, then the nut. Went back up to the cab and WAHLAH!!! My truck was running. But... Now I have a "Check Engine" light on. I checked it with my OBDII scanner but it said no codes were active. I used our "Snap-On" BigDaddy scanner and it also said no codes. I checked the other signals and found the ICP is reading low. By this, I mean it has 0.01volts and has a feedback of -4999. I checked the wiring and did not find anything. I looked over and saw ANOTHER SENSOR BROKEN TO THE RIGHT!!!! After checking in the book again, it is the "high pressure oil pressure sensor". From what I can read in the book, the computer uses the combined readings of the oil pressure sensor, the ICP, and the HPOP sensor located on the head just behind the fuel canister supply and return lines on the driver's side. The truck does not drive badly with the exception of a slow, lagging throttle. I am trying to find one of the HPOP sensors and am also wondering if the ICP solenoid could now be bad also. Any suggestions?
