DP or PHP chip??

Ok I know it has been discussed at length on here, but after doing a lot of reading and researching and I'm still split in which one would be best for me. I had another 7.3 with a DP F5 chip and all the standard/supporting mods, I loved it the truck ran great. I like that both the F6 and the FU2 can be updated without removing the chip. I plan on doing injectors, turbo and HPOP(if needed) but not all at one time so I would like to be able to update my tunes as I upgrade. Those of you that have either one what are your opinioins? I'm just looking for some input to sway me one way or the other! Thanks in advance for any help!

Oh and I will have all the supporting mods before intalling a chip!

Sorry, no good answers. It's the old Ford vs. Chevy type debate. Folks with DP love the DP. Folks with PHP love that.

All I can tell you is my opinion. I have the same year truck and everything and ever since buying the truck I've had the BullyDog Tune(120HP) and I always thought the truck was pretty stout with it. After hearing tons & tons of members on here swear up & down that the DP Tuner was like night & day compared to others out there, I finally pulled the trigger on it. After finishing the reseal on my HPOP, I slapped that sucker in and was AMAZED!!! I had driven the truck a little earlier for a test drive after the reseal job was finished and since it was several days since I had driven my truck, I couldn't help myself and had to shower down on it a little.....which again, I was happy with. Immediately after the DP install I drove the truck in 60HP "Econ" mode and after a 30 mph roll, hit the go pedal about 3/4 of the way....just to get going. The truck went sideways and for a second I was looking at the creek in front of my house! This whole time I really thought all that talk about DP Tuner "had to be" blown up somewhat. After just my first test drive, I found out they were 100% on the money.

I'm sure the other company has a good product too, but all I can say is that between the product I received, the fast shippment of the part and the extremely fast tech call I received(even on Jody's day off), I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

BTW, I will never doubt the FTE members again!

I just ordered my F6 from Jody, i had an old TS Style chip from him and loved it. I am throwing all my mods on at once, thats why i waited to get this chip. have heard good things about Bill, but i am sticking with Jody.

Jody and Diane are good people with a fantastic product. Their support of the people who have their product is great, and their support for people in the Diesel world is great too. Never mind the fact that they financially support this forum. I say DP all the way. I'm sure Bill and his wife have a good product, but just like "America runs on Duncan" the FTE 7.3 forum "runs on DP Tuner".

Just my .02

That's what I'm after is everyones own opinion! I had the DP in my 2000 F250 and loved it, it really woke the truck up! I was almost certain I was going to go with the F6 then I started hearing some really good things about Bill at PHP so it only confused me! I'm leaning more and more towards Jody simply because I have ran his tunes and had a really good experience in general.

IIRC Bill was kinda the first to start tuning the 7.3.. so everyone kinda learned from him.

I would say pick which one you like more. I liked the fact that I can pull the remote switcher and disable the truck. I think a thief can turn a ****. I met Jody this year and he was a really really nice guy and was helping everyone and their brother out.. so that speaks volumes to me.

Also, the one big thing that really pushed me towards DP was the 16 tunes.. this isn't that big of a deal if you are buying each tune.. but if/when I live tune.. I will get my money's worth.. i'm having every f'n tune I can get haha.. Hi-Idle,20T,40T,60T,80T,60E,80E,100R,120R,140S,Lope, ect

As my father always told me, "Go big or go home:

Both are good.. personal preference is what will be your deciding factor.

Good luck sir

The tuning software Jody purchased from Diesel Power in 2004 is no longer used. He has used a version of TunerPro designed for him since 2007 to write his tunes. You can read about that in the April 2009 edition of Diesel Power magazine.

Im leaning twords php because of price point alone
php fu blank 6 chip with 15 -20 tunes included for the same price as a f6 without tunes ... but with dp u get the ability to add tunes without removing the chip from the pcm and 16 at once not just 6.

Had never visited PHP's site til now, and man do they sound like an awesome bunch of people. Sounds very knowledgeable on their products.

Jody and Diane are equally as knowledgeable, and really it comes down to personal preference. Do you like rotary **** or push button? 16 positions or 6 positions?
