Engine blow by help
Engine blow by help
I need some help here! I'm hoping to rebuild the motor on my dually this winter but I'm also buying a house so the plans may get pushed back. Here's my problem, the 460 that's in my dually has a bunch of blow by. I went & put a set of stock valve covers on it with baffles in them because the stock one's from 1985 didn't have any in them. I just put a set of headers & dual exhaust on it. Now when I go up a hill it smokes like a Freight Train. It never did it before when I had the stock cast iron manifolds on it. I'm running Rotella t 15w40 in it. What can I do to at least slow this down or even stop it before I rebuild the motor. It's kind of embarrasing when I'm hauling the race car around & it smoking like a freight train! The reason I put baffled valve covers on it in the first place was because it would blow oil everywhere without the baffles in it. Is there some sort of additive I can put in it to help? Should I change to a heavier weight oil?
