460 build up E7TE
this is what I have. 1988 F-250 4x4 5 spd BW13xx X-fer case (for witch one check later) with a 460cu.
I purchased a comp cams K35-234-4 Hydraulic cam. (212/218 @ 0.050")
Probably gonna get a headman header (89511) when I get the coin.
I have 8.5:1 compression and I want 9.5/10:1 (to use 87/89 octane)
Based on my cam my RPM range will be 1000-5200
My heads are E7TE ( I think 62cc)
I know my bore/stroke is 4.36x3.85. unless required due to wear my bore will stay the same otherwise I'll bore out 0.030"
Tires will be 37-42" diffs will be re-geared as required to compensate for tire size.
Week end driver/ play in the mud/snow maybe the occasional trailer.
I need help with finding correct pistons. Since I still need to build a hoist for my tractor so I can pull my engine out to rebuild it I'm going by my Chilton manual and assuming that my stock pistons have a depression in the top. I believe this depression is measured in negative volume, thus a piston with positive cc's would increase compression.
I've also read that some pistons have a non stock size or type of wrist pin.
Assuming I wanted to keep my stock stroke of 3.85" could I reuse my stock crank and connecting rods if I could find a set of pistons with the correct piston head volume and wrist pin configuration? I would assume so but I just want to be sure before a break anything. I do plan on changing the crank bearings as a side note.
Any suggestions for pistons?
Thanks
Andrew
