Noisy
Last year when my 7.3 let me down at 179000 miles i bought a parts truck with 70,000 original miles and documented matenence records from the city. The truck had been sitting awhile and smoked white the whole drive home. When i swapped the motor into my truck it ran perfect except for the white smoke. Within a couple of days the smoke grew fainter and fainter until it was completely gone. It starts right up even in cold weather with no issues. My only complaint is that the motor sounds like it has a rattle to it and it shakes a little bit when its not run for extended periods of time. I think it is an ip issue because on long trips, or if the truck stays running for awhile the truck quiets down and sounds normall, with no shakes. It has the factory pump and injectors in it with nearly 100000 miles on them now. Does anyone have a suggestion to what it might be, it is starting to irritate me.
My first thing would be remove the fuel filter, drain it and refill with Diesel Kleen.
Then start the engine for 20 seconds and shut it off.
Now let it soak for a while, couple hours or overnight.
The fire it up and drive it like you stole it.
If that don't take care of the problem, probably injectors need replaced.
Does the white smoke smell like fuel or sweet?

I really appreciate the advice. The smoke smelled like fuel to me. Im gonna try the diesel kleen idea next chance i get. If i get new injectors what code injector should i go with. I think i read in a post a while back that the code injectors for the 93+ naturally aspirated trucks made slightly more torque?

ATF is OK as a cleaner, that is what we used to use way back when before diesel fuel suppliments became so common and readily available.
Type F seemed to work the best.
But today with all of the tax stuff, the red dye in type F transmission fluid may get you in trouble if your tanks get dipped.
The tax inspectors are going to assume you had some off road fuel in the tank and it will probably be a real headache or expensive ordeal proving it is not off road fuel contamination.

I dump gallons of ATF in my tanks, if I ever get stopped and dipped when it shows I am going to demand they bring out the chem kit and test it for the dye again - offroad fuel dye will show up on the chem test, ATF will not. Well, I also put in some filtered WMO to turn the fuel black, just as a cheap insurance... By the way both ATF and WMO are considered fuel additives, and as such are legally allowed for on-highway use in most states (Commiefornia possibly excluded).
