I`ve just noticed that you have GT40 heads and different rockers. You need someone like Conanski for that setup. However I would now wonder if the valves are being held open a little. Is it easy to get one of the valve covers off and on a cylinder with both valves closed feel how tight the rocker is on a valve?
Sort of grasping at straws here.
Ive posted a couple of times that the rockers could be lifted off the valve with some effort. Like it wasnt super easy, but it could be done. so I thought that after the lifters primed with oil that they would be fine. Maybe this is my problem. COmpression test to be sure?
Do a compression test on a random selection of cylinders just to check.
If that checks out OK start a new thread with a title like "built 351 won`t start" or similar and see if you can get the attention of Conanski or Diesel Brad or some of the performance experts.
Good luck with it. Once you get it going it will something else.
Ill do that. I just got my compression gague back so it'll be done here soon.
Heres another thing that struck my mind. When installing the cam and removing the timing gear and chain, was there a certain way the gears were supposed to go back on? It all came off easily and the gears didnt come out of the chain, so im sure they went on the same they came off. could this be my problem?
