1995 Ranger ABS light
OK, yesterday I replaced the rotors, brake pads on the Ranger. Took the truck for a test spin and now the ABS light is on. I disconnected the battery hoping for a reset but to no avail. So the question is what do I need to do or look for to correct this problem.

Well the first question is does your truck have four wheel ABS? If you do you can be in for some fun. I don't have alldata on my home computer so I can't look up codes for you. but I can tell you some common causes. First is a speed sensor, The wires going to the speed sensor and the sensor itself are Surprisingly sensitive. A hard smack or pull can damage them. Second is the ABS motor, A lot of people damage the motors when doing brakes. When you go to compress your calipers you should open your bleeder screw and then compress the piston( More common on new models ). The pressure you create when you push in the pistons, damages the valves, diaphragms or pistons ( depending on year and model ) Third is the controller. The only way to actually know is to have the truck scanned. It will cost you a little bit but it is the only way to be sure, and in the long run it will make your repair cheaper and easier.
