I got myself a '71 429 out of the junk yard, it was in a '77 f150 not stock I know... I am looking to build this up as a 500 streetable HP on 92 octane if possible. I have the 72 heads which after doing some reading have found out that those are pretty much trash. I am going to go after market aluminium heads.
With all that being said, Suggestions please. Heads? roller cam specs? intake? carb?
I'm interested as well. I recently purchased a 71 LTD true 429-4V with DOVE heads and am looking to make a street sleeper out of it. It already has a Holley Avenger carb so out of the box I am looking for intake, LT Headers and anything else that may be worthwile (UD Pullies?).
It also has a 2.73 rear gear so I'm looking to upgrade that as well with possibly a limited slip since it one-wheel peels now.

Since the same block is used for 429/460 engines from 1971 thru midyear 1979, and 1973/79 F100/350 2WD's offered 460 engines as an option, how do you know it's a 429 engine?
Several build recommendations here. Note the same tricks that work on a 460 will work on a 429. The first thing most people do to increase power in a 429 is make it a 460 or bigger. Much bigger:
Nice link thanks! I want to keep it around 429. It's going in a '66 ford wagon kinda a novelty engine size I guess, just looks cool. Ah I dunno the pwoer big will bite me before I am done and I will end up with a bored and stroked screamer. Every time I do a build I fight myself
Learned to drive in a '66 Ford wagon. Can't say much good about how they drove at the time, but it would be a cool rig to update and run. Certainly the mashed-potato feel steering, and body roll, sway, weak brakes could all be fixed.
10 passenger?
I thought the '68 Country Sedan would be a good sleeper. Dark green, with some chrome or polished aluminum wheels, a good running FE, a GV OD, double shocks....
There isn't much sleeper about my wagon anymore.
Upgraded disc brakes, Slightly upgraded suspension, 9 inch with 3.73 locker, Custom paint. Currently has a built 400 with ram air through the high beams. Pushes the wagon through the traps with a 14.98, not to bad for a 2 ton car. Here is a pic, ignore the stock wheels and no bumper. I just got it back from the paint booth. You can see my '70 f100 with a engine hoist in the bed in the background of the first pic.
