Another happy coolant flush customer thanks to Jeff (Beachbumcook) posting his procedure. I actually drained and refilled 7 times since I'm a little **** about stuff. After I dumped the last batch, I threw in my Dieselsite bypass coolant filter. It was just about dark when I finished, had to eat dinner, play a game and read books to the little people before we put them to bed, so I will have to check for leaks in the morning.
EDIT: It really sucks that I spelled flushed wrong and can't correct it. Oh well, I'm still happy about the work.

Great! I too had to do it 7 times. I did a quick calculation on how much "old stuff" would be left in aftre 6 times and just "had" to do it one extra time.
I too want to thank Jeff for his procedure. I have posted it to help folks out many times - without giving him the proper credit!
Brad - how many miles on your truck?
Edit - I was going to rib you about the title, but I have a post in the Tech folder w/ the same type of mistake. Oh well, it blends in w/ the landscape more that way .......
It has 85,608 miles to be exact. Of course, I only know that because I keep a notebook for maintenance on every single thing I do to every vehicle. Mostly so I can remember the big stuff, like oil changes, but who can really remember when they changed those wiper blades last anyhow?

Did the bypass filter system on my 04 after replacement of the oil cooler and egr. Used the NAPA one and mounted on the frame under the area of the front seat pax. Easy install. One addition was one of the little glass inline marine fuel filters in the return line. I took the filter element out and mounded it next to the radiator on the passenger side. It is a great way to keep an eye on the coolant as it returns from the filter. Nice clear golden color. Filter available from West Marine for about 12$ or so.
Ok. Good thing i did some research. Thank you for that. What about something like Red Line WaterWetter? I just got my truck a few months ago, a 2003 F-350 6.0 and it the coolant is not that great looking.

Haha I know how you feel. I used to do 30+k miles a year in my truck and am on track for that with my car. Looks a lot more depressing though when you start out with such low miles.
Really like the new taurus and it should be extremely well built since its basically a Volvo. The sho is definitely catching my eye as a next car.

You should never use a coolant additive in the 6.0. Unnecessary and possibly harmful, since our coolant does much more than it does in a normal vehicle.
Flush your coolant. It's extremely easy to do and very cheap. Remember to only use Ford gold Coolant though.
According to Ford when you flush the 6.0 the first flush should have some sort of iron deposit flush run thru it. Forgot the name for it but it was in a past thread.
