Smile 2001 Excursion 7.3

Hello this is my first time on this site and I am looking for some opinions. I found a nice looking 01 EX 7.3 Limited with 190,000 miles on it. The ad states a new trannsmision in 06, recent rear brake job, new batteries, aftermarket stereo, "Edge programer with chip", and more. He is asking $13,500. How does this sit with all you guys out there. Miles too high? Rig too old? 7.3 is the engine to have right?
He also states 22 mpg, is this realistic? Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum... 190000 is not that much for a Diesel if it has been taken care of. As far as mileage, my last few trips my mileage is more around 18-19 mpg, but I drive about 78 or so and run Bio...

Does $13.5K seem like too much. I found out it has a 6" lift, I don't care one way or the other but does it lower the value of a truck?

6" lift for some would lower the value, for some would raise the value. When you're buying EVERYTHING lowers the value!!! HAHAHAHA!!! What brand of lift? Like all things, quality can vary wildly.

22mpg seems a bit optomistic, but if they are going off the overhead meter, that makes sense

We'd all recommend the 7.3. It may not be as fast as the 6.0, but it's dead reliable.

depending on tire size I'd be worried about gearing and tranny wear due to the lift. Also the increased drag makes me think 22mpg is a little unrealistic

Welcome!!!

6inch lift it as what point you have to make sure that it was done right. If its all block in the rear that is scary especially with a 8000lbs excursion. Also have to worry about drive line angle steering issues. BUT if it is done right the excursion (if taken care of properly) sounds like a good price. NOT a good deal but a good price.

22MPG? Sure, with the wind behind him and if they were all downhill miles.
