So today I put some new wires in my 88 250 5.0...but I dont think that had anything to do with it. So I started it like 3 times and it ran fine. Went inside for about 2 hours ,and came back to leave ,and It started smoking really bad out my dash vents. Filled my cab in about 2 seconds. Smelled like something was burning so I shut it off.
Well anyways I was looking at the 88 recalls last night on the web sight and I think they said something about an ingition swich or something on the re call list and the dealership will replace it because it can start smokin or catch on fire...I mean that couldent be a crazy quincedents if that happend the next day I was readin it? Please help guys
Oh and it didnt seem like no smoke was coming from under the hood just the defrost vents thanks

My 1990 Bronco had that recall, took it to Ford and they replaced/fixed it, no charge.
Later the ignition actuator rod broke, that was no part of what Ford was doing, it's just a badly designed part, but my mind couldn't let go of the coincidence. O'reily's and Ford both had the part in stock, so what's that tell you. It's a popular seller.
Ehh sorry for it takin so long. Its just not letting me log in latly! Well manee it's been a bad week. So I found the first smoking problem. The guy that had the truck before me had the speaker/amp wirers ran everything to the fuse box and something got hot. So I ran all them wirers new. So since I posted that last post I just been having such a bad gut feeling about that recall ,well I was driving down the bridge the other day and my truck caught on fire ,and it was the ingition swich....Well gona replace that and the battery tommaro and see if it firers up. (ps will ford pay for a new one and put it in if its recalled?
