1960 Horn Ring removal

I have one of these horn rings on my '56 and I can't remember how it comes off. I restored the wheel & horn ring and do remember the last time I put it on that something inside was a bit fragile(?!) so I don't want to pull on it too hard. But it must snap on or twist on/off, right?

Push down firmly in the center and turn to the left about 1/8 of a turn. Should come right off. Watch out for the spring!
