well i have another post to do with cold start issues and after fiddling around with the plug connection on, what i believe to be, the PCM i just wondered how hard it is to get out and what to clean the connections with. also i can see what i think is the PCM but there is also another metal box, little smaller, behind it, kinda piggyback to it, there is also a white plastic box mounted to its side on the drivers side. the bigger box has a white push on plug with a bunch of small multi colored wires and the smaller one piggyback to it has larger plugs with black shielded wires. all i know now is that i went out after my truck sitting for over 6 hours and started like a new truck.
so then what is it behind the dash that im looking at. its almost directly behind the ash tray behind the dash. hard to miss, well i guess if you know where to look its not hard to miss. i looked under the dash and looked around the kick panels to see if there a bunch of wires going under them but i dont see any thing. wonder why the manual doesnt say where its at.

got it. now i know what is behind the dash and i went out and saw the computer connection under the hood. thanks to you all. i dont know why the haynes manual doesnt say anything about either of these.
Because Haynes manuals are in bed with parts retailers, and are inaccurate quite often. If you want a reliable manual, you'll have to get the dealer service manual.
that is something i need to check into. after all i dont plan on getting rid of the truck. where to you think a good place to start to find a service manual, any specific one.
