I was wondering what experiance you guys have had with front wheel bearings on 4X4. A dealer wants over 400.00 dollars and then the better brand bearing sold in this area is a National bearing brand for 365.00 The problem is that a lot of people around here only get about 1 year or 20,000 miles out of this paticular brand. My truck has 80,000 miles on it and I would rather not have to change wheel bearings every year. Any other brands besides OEM price or brand?
That's cheaper than what I paid from FTE Ed or parts guy Ed or whatever. I just decided to go with a sponsor and I did get seals and studs along with the deal so hey. Look at the price of all the parts you will need or buy extra stuff trying to do it.
We just did the front ball joints on my truck. The small roller bearrings were fine along with the main bearrings you do not take apart.I bought all seals, bearrings and u-joints from Ford and unbelievably cheaper than the local parts store.Just my experience
P.S.Ball joints were XRP.Pete told me about them.
What about the studs have you ever tried getting new studs instead of re-useing the old ones?
Well if you have ever tried getting the old ones out you will know why I bought new ones. My truck has relatively little miles on it and none of that in the salt belt. They did not want to come out. For the money it is easier to replace them with new.
Well so far I've been able to get both sides studs out with a little PB and Vise Grips. But just wondering where you would get the studs if a person was not able to get them out.

Not sure I would reuse after the vise grips. Probably fine but that is just me. I tried to get mine off with the double nut technique to no avail. I just bought new ones.

I changed the hubs on 3 different trucks, including my own, and all the studs came out with the double nut technique. Maybe you didn't have your tongue in the right cheek.

Maybe Roland, but I was at the point of needing new nuts too if I could get them out. I quit.
