2001 E-350 Front Wheel Bearings

Ford recommends the wheel bearings be inspected, replace grease, and adjust bearings at 60,000 miles.

I thought most front wheel bearings now are of the sealed type and not in need of anything until they go out. However, that is apparently not the case.

Is this an urgent need or can you go further without trouble? I have 65,000 miles but don't want any failures.

15 years ?
I'd go ahead and re-pack 'em regardless of the mileage

In the .mil it was inspect and repack/replace as necessary every six months, for aircraft. 60k+ and 16 years is a long time.

Agreed

16 years is a very long time to ignore any maintenance.

I've exceeded mileage intervals for every maintenance item, but not time intervals.

No way.

Are there time intervals in the Ford manual for bearings?

Woops

I didn't intend to imply a time interval for maintenance of wheel bearings.

I just meant to imply that 15 years is way beyond the common sensical time interval.

There should be, probably. Maybe there's something about "deep water fording" or somesuch by manufacturers iirc.
