Unbolted the converter this morning and took a look.....anyone wanna guess what I saw? Needless to say a powerstroke hates a plugged converter, it opens up and hauls......tail now. Couldn't see daylight through that sucker. Now, all I had at the shop was 3 inch exhaust pipe, I ran 3 inch to the back of the muffler (yes, although I said I wasn't gonna mod this truck, I figured well I'm cutting the exhaust anyway) then built an adapter and left the 4 inch tail pipe in. Not any louder, which will make the wife and the law happy, I've always told my boys if you have a turbo you won't need a muffler anyway. (GRIN) I'm lovin' it. Later Whit
The EGR Valve might come on anyways during start up making it sluggish for a few minutes.
When you do the FPR mod, you need to make sure the spring lines up with the nipple in the center of the plug.
Glow plugs really shodunl't make it start too hard if its 80 out.
Mine still smoked anyways when it was warm out. the GP's keep the cylinders warm for a bit to help reduce smoking if the truck hasn't been started in a while.
Even though they are on for 2 to 3 minutes everytime you start the truck.
