I was thinking the same thing. I drove the truck today and checked the fuel pressure again. This time it read 60 psi. I still think it is too low. I will check out a new fuel pump. All I know is: the truck has waay more power and if I need to change the fuel pump to get more pressure, this truck will FLY!

60 is fine.

I doubt you need new fuel pump. I was hoping somebody else would say something about it.

The spring is probably just getting weaker.
The bb will help it out a lot.

So the saga continues. I was heading out of town today and saw the dreadful sight of unburnt diesel smoke behind me again. I pull ed over and this time I found the schrader valve missing, LOL. I stole the schrader valve out of my spare tire to get back home. On the way I found my clutch now slipping I assume from the diesel that has saturated everything under the hood. LOL. At least the truck won't be rusting anytime soon.LOL I think I am going to remove the BB as I never had any problems before I installed it.

Yea, I would keep that cap on there just to keep it clean. I doubt the fuel would care to much at 70psi towards a little plastic.

How high should fuel pressure be.

OK I checked the fuel pressure today and it was reading 48-50 psi....checked it 2 or 3 times. I did the BB trick, now I'm getting 80 psi....is that too much? I drove it up the road a ways and power may have been better...but not an awesome amount. The PO had put Lucas in the oil just before I got the truck and after reading about the hard start with lucas, I changed the oil today...seems to be cranking better, we'll see in the morning. I'm just worried that 80 psi is to high, haven't blown any fuel lines yet so.....cross the fingers. I've built engines (gas) all my life but this is my first diesel so I'm a little lost here, any help I'll be very thankful for guys. Later Whit

My truck is just rejecting this mod,LOL. I found a tremendous amount of power and smoke from my BB. I would not recommend leaving town until you have the opportunity to really hammer it to be sure there are not any problems. LOL

80psi is that max you want... If it's above 80 take it out. Right at 80 you should be ok.

Yea, 80 is top of the line for the fuel pressure you want.
I'm happy with 70. It made my injectors rattle more though. haha. Poor old things. =(

Lucas + PSD = SUPER BAD.
You'll probably not get it all out for 2 more oil changes either. =\

Lucas foams up the oil.

Thanks Talyn, good to know that it might get better with a couple of oil changes. I drove it to work today about 90 miles round trip, seems to have better power down low. I don't know if the BB did that or the oil change, but I'm LOVIN MY TRUCK, sorry didn't mean to yell but now I know what all the diesel folks around here have been raving about. (grin).....wait (GRIN), thats better. If the cranking doesn't get better I'll go ahead and change the GPs and see how it does....from what I've read it doesn't seem like at 80 degrees the GPs should be the slow start and low on power until it warms up problem...any ideas? Later Whit
