Transmission temp??
Want to put a transmission temp. gauge on my tranny. 04 F-150, 5.4 engine.
At what temp. is considered hot?? Any recomendations on which one to get?? If it does over heat, what do you do??
Will be pulling an 8000 lb trailer to Florida from Pa.

I have an 06 FX4 and i pulled our 30 ft toy hauler loaded to FL and i was pushing 8K plus. As for temp gauge i have the edge box and it tells me my trans temp. You really do not want to be over 220... Temp usualy cools down pretty quick when going down hill or normal driving.. I'm in Jersey so it was a 1000 mile trip to where we went. Where in PA are you>?

I have the Edge also -
"06 SCrew with 5.4L and trany cooler. I used to pull my boat all over Oklahoma. Even when it was HOT my transmission fluid stayed between 190 and 200.
Now in DC and the only thing that gets real hot is the no driving jerks that expect an F150 to take off from stop lights at the speed of a Porsche or they hit the horn.

Where can I get this Edge box?? Is it a hard install?? I do a lot of my own work.

I used one of these:
ROUSH Performance: Vent Gauge Pod
then just got an electric guage from autometer to fit it and it works perfectly.

an edge tuner comes with all the info you would ever want and a built in tuner.
i dont use my tuner but i do use the gauges(air intake temp. trans temp average MPG instant MPG). best of all it dont take away your air lol. looks good too!
just expensive... dont pay over 250 + / - 10%

it is not a ford product and if you go to get warranty work done i would take it out remove the tune and disconnect your battery just to make sure cuz it will void your warranty lol

If you're interested in gauges without the tuner, and want to retain your warranty status without question do NOT get the Edge Evolution!
What you want is Edge Insight. All the gauge capabilities of the Evolution without the capacity to tune the PCM. Therefore nobody can make accusations that your "tuner" did some damage because it's not a tuner. Just a fancy gauge!
