i almost cried hearin your story .. Im so attached to my 84 .. if it happened to me there is no way i could let it go I would get a new truck and put allonto the frame so its still the same truck at heart.. and this just goes to show you how freaking tough our old fords are I mean it rolled down a hill and flipped into a river!! and theres still salvagable parts in a way its very impressive
Yea before i did the body lift (3in) on it, i came here and asked some questions about it and ppl said that it wont hold up to a crash... looks to me that it did. It rolled and hit hard and all the body mounts are still intact. Yes these trucks are tough thats y i wanna either get mine or find a new one
Sorry for your lost. I had an engine fire in my truck back in 2003. Was helpless watching it burn. Now I have a fire extinguisher behind the seat. I chaulked it up as a learning experience. I ended up building a new engine, rewired everything, replaced the hood, window, dash pad, etc. Glad I still have the truck. Was worth it.

FIRE IS EVIL!!! it is very messy to fix that sort of damage.glad you fixed her up,good job!
I would understand if Copper isn't put back together. Sounds like he has a lot going on with a soon to be new wife. It took a lot of time to put mine back together, but was laid off at the time and had a lot of time to work on it. If I didn't have that time it wouldn't have been done either.
Dam Well it don't look to bad though I would just rebuild it an have it looking like new. Lets us know what parts you need an we might be able to find em. Keep us posted K.
I wired one of those up in my Fury in place of a fusible link - you can get those fuse holders at a Checker or Autozone, that's where I got mine... Can't remember what value fuse I put in, I'd have to look...
Just got done reading up on this thread and wow, something like that would make me sick if that happened to my truck... Sorry to hear about your loss...
i am sorry to see your truck totaled, its a sad day to see your hard work destroyed, and the pictures really hit home with me, since me and my father have spent so much time on my truck,
this should be a learning lesson for all, we all should keep our trucks in good working order, and go over many things we tend to over look like neutral safety switches, and make sure your electrical is in good order, make sure there are no lose or cracked wires, and if they are fix them!
i understand the safety switch was breached when he started it under the hood, but non the less his ignition must have been out of whack or something, since he couldn't start it from inside the cab,
or where you having carb problems? thus you had to feed the motor a bottle of fuel? in any case, i think we all should learn that, when starting a car/truck from under the hood and possibly with a bottle of fuel to prime the engine, we should either have a person behind the wheel, in case anything should go wrong, thus someone is still in control, or simply block the wheels off really good, but i highly suggest just have a person behind the wheel at all times when starting a car/truck,
my best wishes, and may you either fix copper up, or find a new dentside to replace copper,
i would hate to see copper crushed down, the frame and other parts may still be good, thus another body swap looks doable
i just noticed that you posted that you had a 3" body lift. seems like it held pretty well. gives me encouragement as from another thread i was starting to wonder if it would be worth it if i got in a wreck.
Dude keep it an fix it as you can if not it will be destroyed. they will just take it to the crusher an crush it. the bed looks the worse part get it an see if it will start an take it from there. there are not many of these old trucks left. people want these new vehicles with all the stuff on them. keep it an redo it you would have wished you would have.
