I considered this as I recently put front discs on a 65 mustang and added the proportioning valve to balance out the braking.

I went ahead and dropped about $200 on a rebuilt RABS and just finished installing it. BEST brakes since I have owned it. This RABS crap has been going on for as long as I have owned the truck (12 years) and at every annual safety inspection I worry if it will pass. Sometimes it does not pass and I go and throw a Master Cylinder at it and bleed or just bleed the brakes. Didn't take long to figure out the master cylinder had nothing to do with it.

Below for your viewing pleasure is a exploded view of the insides of a RABS valve. The fluid inlet in the RABS has a very fine screen. Also in the spool shaped piece that has a oringed nipple on each end, there is what looks like a sintered brass filter in on end. There was corrosion inside the valve and I suspect that at least 1 of the 2 solenoid plugs would not move.

RABS brake line

Noticed this thread about the RABS. I have to replace mine, just ordered on EBay. I cannot find a part number/source for the brake line from the master cyl to the RABS unit. Anyone happen to know where I can get one or do I have to make it? The line is rusted out and I might as well replace while I have it torn apart. Merle

I have had mine bypassed for over a year and no noticed problems. This is rain snow ice and dry weather.

but for us guys with 5 speeds, its not that simple. We kinda need that parking brake.
I just put a dana 70 from a van into my truck. Disk brakes and parking brake. Mines a dually but you could possibly get a dana 60 for a single wheel truck

I'm don't think the Dana 60 rears have a place for the VSS.

You're right my mistake, after more research looks like the best what to get a disc brake setup on a SRW is to use a Super Duty 10.5 and have the hubs machined and drilled for an 8x6.5 pattern and to fit the stock OBS Wheels.
