RABS Bleeder Picture - per request

In case anyone else ever bleeds their brakes and what not, they should know as well. I think it messed me up a bit also.
Anyways.
Its right under the firewall about 3 inches in front of it in the frame rail on the drivers side.

The Bleeder is 5/16's
Mine was not reefed on there very tight, which I suggest others just snugging it back up nicely when they are done as well.
This thing would not be fun to "screw up"

Now to twiddle thumbs as the thing uploads...

Okay, dont forget this is off my 94.
If you have something different. please post so other's know about it.

My 96 has that one also, but I bypassed it so it is just hard line, it is no longer in the brake system.

Advantages & disadvantages of bypassing it?

Not sure about the technical name, but I believe this is close enough.

RABS = Rear Anti-Lock Brake Sensor - It's supposed to modulate the rear wheels when a skid situation is identified.

Advantage to bypassing it: I can't think of any other than you'll be able to lock the rear wheels and skid to your heart's content. Hopefully, it won't be in one of those 'scary' situations.

Disadvantage to bypassing it: It's a component in a factory installed safety system. What good could possibly come from bypassing a safety system component?

Thanks for the photo, Talyn. Reps sent.

yea, my truck came from Tenn. I need to spray bomb everything underneath still. haha.
I'm so scared for this winter. Maybe i'll move away for a few months. I dont have a beater to drive. =*(

Actually, that is the RABS Accuator Valve.
The RABS Sensor is under the dash someplace. they move it every now and then.

I bypassed it originally because I was having the infamous falling brake pedal and I was trying to eliminate that variable. As far as having an unsafe breaking, I don't think so, not that I have encountered yet. The fronts will lock up before the rears anyways. There are hundred of thousands of older vehicles out there that never had any type of anti lock features. Seems like the fronts should have the anti lock feature rather than the rears anyways.

The fords have RABS due to light rear ends of the trucks.

That keeps the rear from sliding around during hard braking.

I'd keep it cause its a good line brake.
Easier to replace short lines then long lines.

I have a hard time believing these trucks are that much lighter, the diesel adds some extra but I am pretty sure these were put onto nondiesels also. I still have the same length lines because I only added a short section to complete the connection.

I have been driving it like this for a while but if I will watch it to see I notice any rear skidding.

nononononononono!!!!

Ford's, like ours, are 150-350's are lighter in the rear ends then their dodge and chevy equivalents.
That's why they have RABS. Keep the rear from comming around on a hard stop.

Thanks for the clarification, William.

I also feel the brake bias should be adjustable so the front brakes don't come on too much sooner than the rear brakes. When I'm running unloaded, I'd like the front/rear bias shorter (about 55/45). When I'm pulling the trailer and/or hauling, I'd like the bias longer (about 70/30).

Thats the sucky part about drums.
Just need to do disc conversion in the back.
but for us guys with 5 speeds, its not that simple. We kinda need that parking brake.

Is there a reason you couldn't put a manual adjustable brake proportioning valve in it like for race cars?

These trucks have a proportioning valve it is on the master cylinder.

I like the Idea of an adjustable proportioning valve that would be cool !

Thanks for the pic Talyn
