So I've searched this forum for about 2 days and can't find anything about 2 problems I have.
I have a 98 Ranger 4x4
First, my A/C makes a shuttering noise when I turn it on. It makes this noise now and then when on, but when turned off, nothing. Is this a symptom of a failing compressor? It still blows cold air and I've replaced the blend door.
Second, the front wheels make a "rotating" squeek at speeds greater than 10 mph. Go figure, you can't put it on a lift and find it. It seems to squeek at a slower rate than the speed of the wheel/tire. This one has me confused.

Reason: year/make
Not clear on whats "shuttering", but if you mean the engine idle gets rough when the A/C is turned on, maybe add the IAC to your suspect list.
If it's the compresor itself thats acting out, maybe suspect it's clutch is slipping, or maybe highside pressure, or maybe the serp belt, or tensioner.
When you had the old belt off, did you check all of the accessory pully bearings, like the water pump, idler, tensioner, ect, for play/looseness, or roughness????
Have you raised the hood & had someone turn the A/C on, while you looked/listened for the shutter????
