I have a 460 out of a '76 F-250. I think it has D8VE head markings. I will most likely be buying a set of D0VE heads from another member.

I want to build something decent for my '78 F-250 SC 4x4 with Dana 60 F&R with 4:10 gearing and a factory C6.

This is not a daily driver, but I do use the truck for:

• Driving on the beach
• Hauling dirt, wood, trash, and ???
• Pulling a new to me 30ft camper through hilly country

I see a lot of recommendations floating around and my head has started to hurt.

I am open for suggestions on:

• Cam: The engine has a two year old RV cam in it. Is this re-usable, or should I replace it? I can get the specs...
• Crank: I am told mine has two bad journals. Is this an opportunity to get some extra stroke?
• Pistons: The engine is getting bored +.030 over stock
• Intake
• Carb
• Distributor: Is stock good enough, or should I go for an upgrade?
• Head mods: Should I stick with stock rockers go with roller rockers? What about valve work and porting? Other mods?
• Timing: I thought I saw some posts about variations in timing settings and what should be done to correct some retarding issues.
• ????

I'm not looking for some big bruiser, but I do want plenty of torque when needed. I am trying to keep costs down as much as possible.

I'm looking to get help from the pros when needed, but I am wanting to do the assembly work.
