Using glowplugs to supertune your engine???

Well what about techniques for tuning by ear, as it were???

I hear talk of it here and there but, are there any general guidelines per-se???

How I time mine is when the cold timing advance is on, there is a definite rattle to the engine as you drive off at light throttle application.

Once coolant temp goes over 112 degrees and the timing advance kicks off, the engine sounds much smoother and no or very little rattle at any amount of throttle application.

I read with interest the old 'Tuning' thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...he-engine.html and wondered what ever happened to Crossbones 2? He sort of left all of us hanging, waiting for the next step. I know he mentioned family heath problems in a much earlier post than the ending one. Hope nothing bad happened on his life.

Crossbones is doing alright , Yes there were health concerns he had to deal with over the last couple years that kept him away from here,plus he is a busy dude. I have seen him on some other forums lately . I asked about getting IDI ford injectors set to very close tolerances of one another , he is still hoping to get the 'very small shims' in order to do this and has not given up on it but really has apparently not had any break through revelations to post. Just this week he set the injectors on my isuzu 2.2 diesel within 3 psi of each other at a pop-off of 1500. Thats really close , I think with shims usually people struggle to get them within 3% of one another, theres a big difference there. I wondered if there were injectors that would fit in our motors that had an adjustment screw instead of shims from some other application.
