Pioneer amp and sub installation

I swapped my bench seat out for two newer f150 bucket seats with a console... i want to put a shallow mount pionner 10' 1200 watt sub and a pioneer 2 channel 760 watt amp ... i want to know if it would sound any good with such an old truck. i have a blaupunkt head unit and 2 blaupunkt 5x7's and they sound good. I am just wondering if it will shut it self off if its taking too much power. i noticed it did that when i had an aftermarket horn connected to my fuse panel. i think that it was just taking too much power from something and when ever i used the horn the head unit would shut off and turn back on, same with when i turned my headlights on, and when i turned it up loud. and this was all with the truck off. i have no idea what it is any ideas?

I have one 12" 700w sub and a mono amp 800w wired stright to the starter soloniod(thing on the fender wall that the battery cables go to) and it sounds good you just have to adjust the amp and the setting on the head unit to make it really sound good. and so far i haven't had a problem with it affecting the way the truck runs. but a good idea see if your headunit has an auto off so the amp isn't turned on all the time.

Hope it helps
Kyle

If you wire it the way truckrider814 did and still have those problems I would say you need a new alternator, battery cables, or both..

I have a 1000W amp with 2 10's behind the seat. Its wired up right to the battery. I have had no problems with draw or anything. I have that hooked up plus an air compressor (for my horn) and my car alarm and im still putting out 14.65 volts. You should have absolutely no problem.
