FX4 Question
I thinking of trading my Ranger for a newer F150 FX4 or even a brand new one. Does all the FX4's have a limited slip axle? What other items set it apart from other F150's. I guess I dont need a FX4 but would want the limited slip in like a XLT.

I recently purchased a used 2007 F150 FX4, it seems all the FX4 trucks I have seen have leather bucket seat, floor shifter, an extra skid plate for the gas tank, and different shocks, and all I have seen to this point had 3.73 diferential gears and limited slip.
Honestly I have no idea if this is all standard equipment, its just what I have observed them with for equipment.
I do like my FX4, it does all I ask of it and more, and its one and only issue was 2 rattles.
I corected the rattle under it by removing the rocks that had acumulated on parts of the under cariage like skid plates, suspension stops and areas that can hold dirt.
The other was loose jack and tire changing parts under the right rear seat.
Neither was an actual problem of the truck in itself, just something I inherited since I bought it used, and then had to locate.
So if you purchase one used and hear noises, those could be suspect areas.

all 04 to 08 fx4 come with 5.4 and and 3.73 rears and l/s, in less it has 20 in wheels you get 3.55 l/s ...you can get theis in a xlt you just have to look real hard when you buy it seeing what it has

i've heard of a few people around my area haveing issues with the stock L/S going out. anyone else have problems?

I have an 06 FX4. It came with 20" wheels and 3:73's. I have since gone to the 18" FX4 wheels. If you can, stay away from the versions that have the sunroof. I had always head of people having problems with them. Add me to the list now. The linkage on the slider broke and the glass would not close. Glad I got the extended warranty. I have been waiting for a week for the parts and the truck goes in for it to be fixed tomorrow.

Here is a small list of things as I remember them:
5.4 V8
3:73 LS gearing
skid plates (3- I think)
Slightly different shocks (not much difference)
Guage cluster
floor shifter (after '06- I think)
black grill with painted surround
black fender trim
FX4 badging
Painted bumpers with fog lights
This is all that I can recall, now all this changes slightly between years as far as standard equipment. I'm sure that I left out something but someone will correct me.
