Interior Light Dimmer/Off switch?

I am having no luck searching for this so maybe you fellas can help me out.

I also have a 2005 Dodge quad cab 1500 and the feature I like the most is what the manual calls a "Party Switch", the dashboard dimmer switch that controls the brightness of the dash lights can be rotated all the way down and this shuts the interior domes lights OFF, which I LOVE.

I can't stand opening my door and being blinded by the dome lights, and my eyes are older and more sensitive to light when driving in the dark, this switch in OFF Dome position makes the dashboard very dim, perfect for deep dark driving here and there.

I can't get the dome lights ot be OFF in my 2008 XLT Super Duty 250.

Is there a way to shut these dang lights off? Is there an aftermarket switch that I can get that will work like the "party switch" on the Dodge?

thanks folks! I am squinting in the glare of the bulbs here in Vermont hoping you all have a solution!

yep, you too huh?

I was hoping someone would say, 'hey, just order part # such and such" and you're done...

no luck so far...

that and the volume button on the radio, wish it was a click adjustable one, on rough roads its hard to make a slight volume change with any real control.

only two things I wish were different on my Super Duty, other than that I love it.

Are there any dome lights that I can replace the OEM with that has a switch on it that I can manually use to turn that dome off?

Or, are their wiring schematics on the web that I can look at so maybe I can put a rocker switch inline to disengage the dome light?

thanks for your help!!

Dome light

Does the F250 have a different dome light than the F150? I have an 07 that has a 3 way switch on it. One setting turns it on when the door is open, another one and it's off with the door open. I've got an overhead console with 2 reading lights in it, I have not seen a way to turn those off when the doors are open. Sorry - don't know any more on it.

If you have something different, maybe switch it out for one like mine? I assume it's oem as it was in there when I bought the truck.

My 97 has a rotary switch on the dash for the dash lights, but I have not found on on the 07. Don't know if I've just missed it or there's nothing available for that. Sorry.

Yeah, that and the damn cargo light with the dome light deal... Even my chevy had a separate switch to turn the dome light on and check your load without also turning the dome light on, which of course creates glare off the windows and you cant see a damn thing anyway...

Dimmer

I stand corrected on having a rotory dimmer switch on my newer truck. I'd never noticed it because It was in line with the wheel when driving and the dash was lit up just fine. There is one, my earlier comment was incorrect.

yes, there is a rotary type switch for the dimmer but the dodge i have has a click setting at the bottom of the rotation of the dimmer that shuts the dome right off, even when the door opens, no light in that setting.

i measured the dome light best I could on the Super Duty and my old 94 F150 my neighbor now has and they are as different as peaches and apples,

i wonder if ANY model SD has a dome with an on / off switch?
