I acquired a one ton Sterling 10.25 with 4:10 gear ratio for my 85 f250. ?I bought it from a guy who had all the brakes and hardware all off and now I am stuck putting it back together but Im not really sure on how to. Anyone have a picture of the brakes on a sterling 10.25?
If so this is exactly what i have its solid heavy hauler, but you will be doing 3000 rpm at 60 mph..
Nice part is you dont have to pull the axle to do a brake job.
Since you already did the 5spd swap, 4:10's would be perfect. I guess it really depends on your driving situations. I prefer to avoid speeds higher than 60 as my mpg suffers but I am nowhere near taching out. I rarely need the freeway though so the 4:10's really help with my city mpg.
