ditto, have one with the nipple, cause i like nipples. LOL and i think it is top five mods you can do. the other four I can't really remember right now.
Heh heh! He said nipples... I have one without nipples, but it works great. A 5 gallon bucket with the lid still on it and a funnel stuck in the spout and I'm right up tight to the bottom of the oil pan. No fuss no muss.
I also installed one on my 2X. I was worried about clearance so I installed without nipple. Not sure if it is actually lower than the steering linkage, but it would be close (no axel to protect it). Glad I did not go with the nipple because I would have been worried about it then. No issues with draining, it causes a nice tight stream (that's right, I used Nipple and Tight in the same response). The only think I noticed is that due to the smaller opening, the oil drains quite a bit slower than before. However this is really not a big issue, just start the drain, then go about other tasks (change oil filter, change any other filters due, etc) and by that time the oil is all drained. I just changed mine this weekend. By the time I changed the Oil and both fuel filters, the oil drain was done.
Great mod. Would highly recommend it even if you don't change your own oil.
I was thinking of adding one of these drain valves to the car but the oil pan sits way too low, so low in fact that I can't even change the oil without having to put a floor jack under it.
I think dollar for dollar, this quick drain plug is the absolute best piece of hardware a person can add to their truck.
I have the standard American fumoto drain valve, the OP wanted to know about the "fumotouse" valve, which is the Italian gangster version...any of youse know anything about dat one? I understand that it is gold plated and comes with extra protection for the right money.
How much does the valve protrude up into the pan, and does it prevent some oil not to drain out. There must be at least some oil that cannot drain because of this but maybe not enough to be concerned about, I guess the true test would be to use the fumoto valve till none comes out and then remove the valve and see how much more comes out if any.
IIRC, it does not protrude much at all (not any I would bet). Considering you have an 18 quart engine oil capacity and you can only drain 14-15 quarts of it - the little extra that may be left is negligible.
Best mod I've done followed closely by the coolant filter.
Ten best mods (IMO):
1. coolant filter
2. ccv re-route
3. Fumoto valve
4. updated HFCM water drain plug
5. gauges!!!
6. harpoon the fuel tank
7. high idle mod
8. power steering filter
9. brite box
10. 24 inch windshield wipers
When you are bored, you can do the Zodad mod and then an intake elbow if you just want to blow a little cash.
