89 4.9 no power

I'm putting an 89 4x4 F150 back on the road. The truck sat for two years before I started working on it. I now have it running (thanks to these forums!), but it doesn't seem to have power on the top end. It kind of jerks and just seems like its not opening up. I don't know how to describe it well, but it reminds me of my cousin's Chevelle when I was a kid. He had a four barrel carb on the car and when he tramped it it kinda stumbled and bogged down before the four barrel kicked in. That's the way the truck runs, except the four barrels never kick in. I know the truck doesn't even have a carb, but its that stumbly/hesistation/bogging that I'm trying to describe.

I've checked the compression (thanks to SubFord for the correct method!). All six cyl are within 15% of each other (165 High 145 Low). I've put on new Distributor, Rotor, Wires, Spark Plugs, relays for Fuel and EEC, Fuel Filter. I've tried running it without the Air/Filter piece. No difference. The Tach is steady and in 4th gear I can run to about 2K on the tach ~ 45mph stumbling, but there it starts to bog down. I have to downshift on hills that a friend's 2.8L Sonoma in 5th gear just runs up.

I was told to spray carb cleaner into the intakes, but I think I read somewhere here (couldn't find it again) that carb cleaner sprayed into the intake can destroy an air flow sensor? I've also been told to take Sea Foam and a transmission funnel and feed the SeaFoam directly into the intakes and put some in the gas.. At this point I'm lost. I don't have a code reader. Any suggestions about what I should look for?

I think I listed all the pertinent info..

Thanks..
