OT: We Will Remember?
I don't get here often enough, for that I am the loser
due to the quality of people and conversation that this forum is. I haven't started a thread in months and contributed little to our forum in months. Anyway, with my trucking job I hear a lot of talk radio, for better or worse. I, as you, have had to endure the endless Michael Jackson crap, Obamacare debate, the ACORN scandals, cap and trade legislation, the reduction of our nuclear arsenal and removal of the missile defense system in Eastern Europe, global warming legislation, etc....endless debate on endless topics. Now this debate is a necessary component of a democracy...so as much as we get fatigued by listening to it, I understand the need. This debate will help to determine what kind of country we will be.While I have the time (before I go back on the road today) I thought I'd mention that in nineteen days (November 11) it will be Veteran's Day (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11 month...yeah, I'm old...I remember this). So I hope we continue to remember the men and women in harm's way fighting for us to have the freedom to have a voice in what kind of country we are to be and at the same time remember those who, throughout our history have demonstrated that "there is no greater love than that of an American soldier for their country".
To our FTE citizen soldiers, we are in awe of you and you are always in our thoughts and prayers.

I grew up seeing that. Now, in this liberal run state, I actually think some people would protest if they knew a tank would roll down the street.

In all the years I worked in industry, and was afforded a day off to celebrate, I never once took my birthday, but I always took Veteran's Day. I figured if I didn't remember it, I would be contributing, in some small way, to its demise.
I am never so proud as when I am recognized as being a vet, though those days are increasingly far between.
And yes, I know why we say, "At the eleventh hour".
The Canadians are particularly proud of their soldiers. Terry Kelly, in Halifax, has produced a video about it. It never fails to bring a tear.
Not for what the Canadians do, but for what we don't.

The military ball caps are becoming more and more popular with the Veterans. Most are earlier wars that they faught in.I really think it is great to see them.Several years ago when I first started seeing them I would make a point to walk up to the folks, shake their hand and tell them Thank You.I still do this,I am proud of them and you can tell they appreciate it.
You know what their response usually is?....''I was proud to serve"

those that think it is just another holiday. It isn't, and never will be, just another holiday as long as I have not assumed room temperature. You can see the pride in the faces of the people at the parade as my Nova pounds & rumbles down Virgina Street in Reno...the pride of a grateful people for their veterans.

for remembering, and for reminding us all
