Shift linkage (to short)

okay so i put my body lift on 3" and now my shif linkage is to short. its only short by 1/4 inch at most not even.
its a 85 ford f-150 302
i havent realy looked is it adjustable or am i gonna have to cut and extend.
any ideas will be great thanks.

This is an automatic transmission right? If you have not adjusted it yet, it is shorter than 1/4 of an inch. It will be short by three inches.

Anyway, you can shorten it or make a new linkage. That bushing that retains the linkage into the shift lever on the column can be a pain to remove.
In many cases, I cant ever seem to get the linkage back in, so I replace the bushing with a shperical rod end and home made linkage. This provides plenty of adjustment and maintains a very smooth operation.

autozone/advance sells the bushing kits if yours gets destroyed....they usually have them in stock. I dont recall the p/n but they should have a book so you can look it up. BTW, on my truck(90 250), the linkage is adjustable-there are two bolts you loosen to adjust it...

okay so i adjust it at the column? sorry but this is first time i have done anything other then a motor.
