I just goy back from a trip to AZ from KS. Tow a fifth wheel 2600 mi avg MPG was 8.0. The 5er weighs about 12K. When I kept it at 2K rpm (around 65 MPH w/4:10) I got around 9-10 based on the lie-o-meter. I kept all reciepts and total miles and made the avg MPG based on that. When I got up to 2200 rpm (around 70 MPH) was when it would go down to 7-8 MPG. Hate the milage I get with this 08 but the pulling power over my 05 is just unbelievable. As soon as it turns 5 yrs old I'm pulling the DPF and getting a tuner. I agree with you MxDad it's BS to chock these things down. So that want us to use more fuel just to make the air a little cleaner. BS BS BS. My has the Chrome package and all the stuff in the previous post is correct about what extra is Chrome.
Hummmmm 05 V-10, CC,LB,Dually 4:30 diff..city 8/9.. highway solo 12 on a good day.Pulling a 13K 5th wheel. 7/8 mpg but it did a good job.. 08 6.4L , CC,LB, Dually, 4:10's 11/12 city (my city) 17/18 solo highways.. 10/11 mpg pulling the same 13K 5th wheel.
Yep....8 or 9 towing an 11K travel trailer....but it don't care what is in its way...pretty much like a freight train going down the highway... worst mileage was about 7, but I was going against a 20-30mph wind all of the way home, I don't think the truck ever made it into overdrive on that trip...
My SWB CC F250 will get a solid 18.5 on the highway if I stay in the 60-65mph range. 65-70mph mid 17's, over 70 mid to low 16mpg or high 15. These figures are all unloaded. Pulling my car trailer 13-14 on highway. Unloaded mixed backroads highway,& city mid 15's. I've got 373 gears and 20" wheels.
Had an 02 V 10, loved the truck, but for towing the the V 10 can't compete. Best milage I have gotten so far was 14.3 on the highway, towing a 33' fifth wheel 9.8, if you go above 2k rpm mpg drops a bunch. The 6.4 tows like a dream. Had to cancell a trip to Vegas this month, but can not wait to tow in some mountains to find out what she reallt got. The only hills here in south Louisiana are the overpasses.
