I washed my truck and noticed some specs of rust all over the front fender and on the hood. I tried to rub it out with rubbing compound but it didnt do much. Whats the best way to get rid of it? What grit sand paper?
Had a white truck that came with the orange dots on hood and roof years ago... acid rain. Ford hoods are aluminum so you do not have rust there. Dont use sand paper!!!! Have a detail shop look at it, I suspect it is overspray or a type of acid rain damage.
it also could be rail dust. These can only be removed with a clay bar. This is caused by the metal bits coming off the rails during transport on a train.
or it's just the crap that they mix with road "salt" these days, or its brake pad residue that shot up there hot off the pads and stuck. go buy a better rubing compound or "pre-wax cleaner". Don't sand it!
its easy to fix....go buy a clay bar (an not the cheap ones at walmart or autozone) go to a body shop supply store and buy a good clay bar, it should cost you about 30 bucks.....claybar the whole truck, wax with a high quality wax, and your truck will look better than new.....i do mine once or twice a year.....
Get a clay bar kit from Mcguires. Comes with everything you need. There are also many videos on You Tube on how to clay a vehicle. That should remove any contaminates. I do mine every year just to get the baked on dirt out of the clear coat.
