Spinella, I can agree with your problem, but the solution here is to find a better dealer, NOT go spend $1500 on an aftermarket part that will NOT fix the problem!
If it's not leaking, it's not defective. Replacing it will only lighten his wallet!
i'll be honest with you...i'm a v10 guy. i'm not that knowledgable on the 6.4 with the dpf. i've been reading and asking questions to help my boss, and i agree he should'nt have to do anything to the truck. maybe another dealer might be able to figure it out.
The reason I'm insisting that he wasn't too hard on it and that temperatures wouldn't cause it is because there are some members here that tow loads that are downright brutal compared to what your boss was hauling.
Send a PM to ruschejj, he's has his truck for 106,000 miles with almost all of it towing. Mostly in the south, up to 15,000 lbs.
These trucks are designed to handle heavy weight in extreme temperatures. The cooling system in his truck was designed to cool 33,000 lbs max gross combined weight. There's NO WAY it's doing this just because it's a bit warm outside! Something's wrong!
This is from the service manual:
Notice how none of the possible causes say anything at all about the CAC?
just a update. we checked everything you guys recomended and everything came back good. he doesnt use this truck everyday thats why its been awhile since my last post. hes going to try another dealer, hopefully they will have a answer for him. hes towing a $250,000 race car and he just cant be stuck on the side of the road again. he lost a a little confidence in his truck and i guess he just want a rock solid answer to his problem. i'll post back after he takes it to another dealer. anyone know a good dealer on long island n.y.? thanks.
