1973 project

Hey, been a long time since i've been on here... but i need a little help with what to do. im leaving the ATV racing world kinda and im looking to do a project truck. low and behold i found a 1973 ford F100 with a 360 in it. the guy wants $350 for it and is sell in for him mom, his dad is in the old folks home and hes not sure how long hes gonna be around. he said he wasnt doing very well lately. he said it hasnt been ran in about 5 years and that it would be a better parts truck then a project. he said the cab is pretty much shop and the box is too. he also said the hood and front fenders were good and he thought you would be able to save the doors, all the glass is good and he also said the motor, trans and all drivetrain items were in good shape, there is a flat front pass. tire and thats about all... and he said it was a 2WD

Im a Sr. in high school and im looking to work on over the weekend or when i need to get away from school. i use to do this in the ATV word but i've got hurt too much from it and now my back and sholder always are bugging me.

the main reason i though about this truck is because one, its really rather cheap, and 2, my gramp hand one back in the day and my dad grew up with one, my gramp passed away a few years ago and man its amazing to find out all the things you learn once the person teaching is gone.

any ways i wanted to know if there was a good spot to get replacement parts for this at... i would try to rebuild the cab becuase im going to become a welder right now as well( i only need english at my high school so i start at 810 at high school then at 10 i start class at tech for welding) i found some stuff on LMC truck but there wasnt much... no rocker pannles or any of the normal things that go out.

or would it be smarter just to get a hole cab and box? i think im gonna need a box for sure... one way or another what do you think would be best? i know how to work on things and just replaced all the shackles in my 93 ranger.

thanks for the replys...

It's hard to say without pictures. I bought my first 73 F100 4spd 2wd long bed for $400. Unfortunetly it also came with almost $400 in back registration. It was still a deal because it only had 83k miles. How many does yours have? If you have a good junk yard where you can get parts that would make the deal much sweeter. California has pretty good self service junk yards, so I have found many good condition used parts......good luck.
