Hello, I have noticed a slow power drain in my 2000 ford expedition. I have set an amp meter between the neg battery and the neg battery wire which confirmed the slow drain. I poped all the fuses with no luck on figuring out which one is causing the problem. I have heared of water going threw the windshield behind the fuse box on these vehicles, but i am not experiencing any odd behavor besides the drain. I personally dont believe it to be a water leak. Im thinking it could be something that does not run threw a fuse maybe? Anybody have any other suggestions that i can try ?
I have no added accessories in this vehicle. Thanks for all help in advance this is driving me nuts
These vehicles use a small amount of power even when it's shut off (Vehicle theft) for example. I myself aren't sure what the normal amp's are of this use, but 0.3 doesn't sound like a lot. I'm wondering if you don't have a battery or alternator that are starting to go bad ?
if i am reading it correctly its about 0.3a 4 days and the battery is completely dead.
Your battery is no good. At 0.3 AH you're using 7.2 AH in a 24 hour period. Over the 4 days you're using 28.8 amps out of the 700+ in the battery. At 7.2 AH per day your battery should take about 100 days (4 months) to go dead.
How old is the battery ? I'd start out by taking your vehicle to a auto parts store and having them do a load test on your battery, this will tell you if it's bad or not, but I bet that's what your problem is.
