Looking for Grill owner
Following another thread, I recently updated the front of my truck. I went with an aftermarket grille, and really like the look, but hate the quailty. I went with all Ford parts except for the grille because I couldn't figure out which one was the chome package one, and the options were coming up as very expensive ($400 or more) and not in stock to compare to. I didn't buy this one necessarily because it was inexpensive. But it ended up being cheap.
The grille was very flimsy in the middle, the "billet bars" are very thin and hollow. the whole center of the grille would easily push in and out. Now one of the upright supports has snapped right above the ford symbol, probably because of the extra "weight" of the Ford symbol.
Is there anyone with a factory chrome package that could give me their vin so I can look up the right part and attest to better quality? (it has to be better than this). And/or some one that could get a close up pic of it? I'm thinking I can get the chrome package one (as long as it isn't $400), and paint the bars black like the one I have now. Thanks!

Ah, good point Bill.
I have the full 05+ Grille, so I need an 05 up vin. However, I guess I'm looking for the Harley style grille but in all chrome not painted, with the small cross bars, not the one like in your signature. Apparently it's on the "Chrome Package" trucks.

It has a honeycomb background that doesn't show up in that photo. I have what they called the "Chrome Package". Not sure what the Harley looked like. We don't see many of those in the Superduty.

I know the one you are talking about. It came with the chrome package that includes the tow mirror covers and tow hooks also chrome plated.
I will ask my buddy to look in his book at his shop to see if we can come up with a number. I tried searching the internet and came up blank.

BUMP, no one with a chrome package can help with this? I'm really curious about the sturdiness of the OE Chrome grille.

I updated my 2000 with an 06 grille I bought off of craigslist but the guy robbed the emblem for his billet grille. I assumed that my 2000 grille emblem would be the same. Not so. I've tried looking for one on ebay can't seem to find one. I'm afraid of what the dealer wants. Anyone know where I can get one?

Unfortunately the dealer. Doubtful you will ever find one in a j/y that is worth it. They aren't that bad. I bought I think was around $20. I have to get one for the new grille I have. I took the one in the pic from a friend of mine who took off his OE black grille and replaced it with an XLT grille. They always come with OE new grilles. Emblems usually aren't made as OE replacements aftermarket. You can get specialty ones though.

I have a simiilar Grill to above, 06 Lariat Chrome Edition, Black, Has the Harley Davidson Grill, Very rigid, fairly strong, but I do have a crack on a bar above the logo and some chrome peeling, Just a little bit. But the grill has taken some hard knocks also, hard enough to knock the Blue out of the logo.

Thanks, I'm def going to try and check out the one near me out of curiosity. It would be interesting to compare the a/m one to the factory one. it's a big savings, even buying at cost.
