....why do some people that have a diesel truck want to sell and/or trade for a gas truck? I would think a diesel would superior to gas but.... Why?
Also, FINALLY got an email back from the guy that has the 1996 F250 Turbo PSD crew cab SRW 4x2 automatic....he put ads up on our local CL and after him emailing me first saying it was a 1996, I noticed the ad said 1997 well I confronted him with this in an email since he emailed me finally and he said it was a 1997 and "sorry he's only had the truck since Sept 2008"...in his ad he states "This truck is too much for my disabled wife to drive."
He emails me back with this....."Take a look at my ad and see what you think. I am looking at a 1999 Eddie Bauer Expedition 4x4 this Wednesday for trade. Can we look at the vehicles in person?"
Here's some pics of the truck.....
I got my truck in a straight trade for my 93 f250 gasser. It has 3 psi of oil pressure at idle, needed lots of crap, 187k miles. Straight across for this diesel that "had" bad glow plugs. Turns out the glow plug relay was wired wrongly....
This guy says the truck needs nothing...and that the only thing wrong with it is the passenger side door won't lock - that maybe the motor went out. Also has 1 small dent on the bed. I just hope there isn't some under-lying reason that I would only find out later as to why he is wanting to trade.
Why does a person sell/trade a diesel for a gasser?
Here's what his new CL ad says about the truck....
"I have a 1997 Ford F-250 Crew Cab Turbo 7.3 Litre Powerstroke (445) HP at 18 mpg. The truck is red in color. The truck has been well taken care with scheduled maintenance as needed. This truck has custom HD bumpers, tailgate, exhaust system with a K&N filter, step rails, visors, pioneer CD player, new batteries, rebuilt transmission less than 50,000 miles ago. The Kelly Blue Book is $8,020. 00. The starter and starter relay has just been replaced. This truck is too much for my disabled wife to drive. I am looking for an extended cab gas powered truck that has been well taken care of as well. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE. Will trade or sale for $5,000."
The truck looks good! The pictures are dark though and could be hiding things.
I don't know why anyone would go back to a gasser. I guess not everone needs a real truck. Haha! Maybe it's too noisy and smelly for their liking. Maybe driving the truck during the rain is the issue for them.
I know my truck likes to slide a bit in the rain if too much pedal is applied. right when I bought mine it was raining when I was coming home. an officer was behind me at a light and I got the truck really sideways as i got into the throttle too much. He pulled me over...long story short he let me go after I explained to him I was not used to the torque the truck had! For an old lady, it may very well be too much truck for what she needs.
I sure hope that is true (too much truck for the lady)...if that's it, GREAT!
But I always have to think the negative and worst case scenario's out.
Of course, you guys probably didn't know that I too AM a young lady...but I LOVE
to have alot of HP and torque.
What is "displacement" and would/could it be that he got it confused?
I have emailed him to ask for details if that is the correct HP.
I'll post what he says.
displacement is how many cubic inches the motor displaces. 445 hp is not out of the question, but takes A LOT more modding than normal. Injectors, intercooler, custom burnt chip, plus a TON of tranny upgrades. Guy either wrote too quickly or doesnt know his butt from a hole in the ground.
I guess I need to wake up - all the diesel research I've done and have read that in alot of places...but I've read it was 444 cubic inches in size.
Is the 1997 HP's the same as 1996? (= 225 HP)

Nothing against ladies out there. I know a lot of them who like to go fast. I think i was implying more towards the "old" in old lady. HaHa I know of men with "old" driving habits too. So it's a personality thing rather than gender.

Some places list the spec as 444, some as 445. The International version of the 7.3L PSD is the T444E, so I tend to think 444 cid is correct.
