Engine help wont fire help asap thanks
just got done rebuilding the top half of my motor(just lifters rods and rockers).
now it wont run, acording to the timing light its firing all eight, pulled two plugs so far, both were working, although the sparked looked kinda funny, it was orange not blue.
i used starting fluid and still couldnt get it to do anything but shoot a flame out the intake once or twice, i've tried rotating to distributor as i had to get a new one from a junkyard, hope its good.
Please any info or help will be greatly apreaciated
p.s. how easy should the distributor spin out of the motor, the original one spun real freely while the new one seems tight.
Thanks

Do you have the distributor set in 180deg out?
Need to verify all settings first, valve and ignition timing, then work on the weak spark condition. Could be something as simple as a bad connection or a ground you missed putting it back together.
Take a few minutes and re-check your work.

Spout connectors only came on EFI vehicles. (It would help if you gave some indication of what vechile you were working on)
The Spout Connector is a harness plug that when removed eliminates computer control/advance of the timing while you are setting the advance at idle.

The old one spun easily because the lubrication was fresh.....and the bushings may have been worn. Why did you replace the distributor? Why a junk yard one? New ones are cheap...even cheaper to rebuild yours.

Congatulations for getting it running!
And Danr1 correctly diagnosed the problem! Good Job Danr1

And yea that is very normal, the computer is advancing the timing a tad over the base setting at an idle like it should.
