Learn to Tie Knots

How many knots can you tie? Remember all those knots you tied in Scouts? Need to teach a child to tie a knot?

This is the best web site I've seen for learning how to tie just about any knot. Fishing, boating, climbing, and more. Each knot is shown animated step by step.

http://www.animatedknots.com/

Anyone who owns a truck needs to know how to tie a truckers hitch.

Trucker's hitch? That's a hay hauler's knot.

There's probably 20-30 knots on there I can tie from memory.

I learned to tie a few knots taking trees down...the knot had to be able to be untied quickly after dropping 12-1500 lbs ten feet and supporting it.

Where I come from, we haul hay on trucks. And truckers tie down the load. Hence, Truckers Hitch.

I've probably learned most of those knots too, but I just don't get much practice and most get lost from memory. That leaves just a handful that I use for everything. For fishing, a Surgeons Loop is the only one I use.

I ran across that site some time ago.

It is pretty cool.

No hangman's knot, but I know that one well.

Tying knots. Something I wish I could do especially the truckers knot. My wife says she is the only she has ever seen that when I tie my shoes both tips always end up on one side. Refused to get married in a tie (didn't want to tell her I had no ieda on how to ties it). Maybe your site will help, I'll give it a try.

I dont know how to tie many knots from memory. If Im ever in a pinch and need one, I have an application for my Iphone that shows how to tie any knot you could ever need. It has little video demonstrations for every knot.

That's purdy neat.

I can still remember how to do pretty much all the knots I ever used in fishing. I was thinking there was one more called the World's Fair Knot that isn't even shown on that page? I dunno.

So yeah I can do some fishing knots, a noose (should I ever need it...haha) and a couple common knots. I was never in scouts long enough to really learn any knots.
