Emergency Flashers, when were they standard?

Got a 68 F100, and it's got two flasher relays under the dash, 1 just hanging by the fuse box (turn signals) and another one to the right of the steering column, clipped to a little clamp under the dash. I was thinking it was for Emergency flashers, but can't find any control switch.

Any idea what this is?

Check the GLOVE BOX!!
(unless someone took it out before you got truck)

Ya, that's where they put it. Don't ask why......

That was the first place I looked. My dad owned a 70 Ranger, and remembered seeing one there. Did not see one, or a place where one had been.

I would pull the glove box liner out and see if there is a wire pigtail hanging there. If someone pulled it out and put a different liner in the slot where it went may not be there. My '67 and '69 are in the glove box.

If it is not there, but the harness is, Advance Auto Parts (the bigger stores) sell generic replacement flasher switches.

hey mr. golfersa. i just bought a column out of a 76 and it has the hazzard lights switch on the column just like that one, someone had swaped it into this truck b.c of it coming out of a truck with p/s and a 4 in the floor , they did this to accomidate a b&m floor shifter. i bought this column to go in my 69 f100 power steering conversion. they say the 67-72 wiring under the dash is all the same and it should all go in with no problem. well my hazzard light switch was naturally in the glove box. my problem is brake lights and getting the hazzard lights on the column swaped from the glove box. i got turn signals though. any seggestions? thanks

When I put a 76 column in my 66, I cut the wires to the column hazard switch and bypassed them leaving the switch in the column and retaining the dash switch.

The wiring was not the same for my truck. You will need to find the horn wire, the brake light and finding the 4 corners turn signal is pretty straight forward. Use plug in connectors so that you can switch one if you need to.

Look for these, may not work for you but it could, so use as a guide only.
blue with yellow stripe = horn
red with black stripe = brake power
blue = turn signal flasher
green = right rear
yellow = left rear

The column is stock, someone added the flasher switch (nice job, too). As previously stated, the emergency flasher switch mounted inside the glovebox on a bracket. Believe it or not, there were FOUR different types. 1967 (first year in an F Series) and 1968/69 without A/C used one type. 1968 with A/C another, 1969 with A/C another. 1970/72 w w/o A/C still yet another.

The 1967 and non A/C 68/69 flasher switch and bracket are the same ones used in 1966 Ford passenger cars: C6AZ-13A350-D. Here again, the '66 switch is different from both 1965, and 1967.

My 72 and my old 70 parts trucks both had the flasher switch on the dash, where the choke should be. My 69 has the switch in the glovebox, and the choke in the dash.

Try your local Ford dealer....don't laugh, the covers are considered hardware, and parts ppl rarely throw hardware away.

374052-S or 374053-S .. Cover (there are two types, either will work).
