I know this is a simple question, but where is the signal flasher relay on a '95 MAzda B2300? The book says for ;95 and later it is located under the instrument panel to the right of the steering column.
After laying on the floor of the truck and looking up under the dash, I don't see any little silver canisters that I can replace. Do I have to pull the panel off underneath the steering column to find it?
On my 2000 the flasher is just behind the lower edge of the dash, just to the left of the steering column. Mines square plastic (like a relay) and it's not black, can't recall the color.
I finally replaced the flasher relay last night. Part of my confusion was that the guy at Autozone insisted that the '95 Mazda B2300 took the metal canister type relay. I ended up having to go to Ford to actually get the relay. Yes, it is a light blue squarish relay just under the dash below the steering column. The relay has a slot on its side that allows it to mount on a slide.
Anyway, replaced the relay, and still no blinkers. Every once in awhile the relay will flutter at a high rate almost sounding like static on the radio. At other times the relay will click a couple times in rapid succession and then stop. I'm not touching the turn signal lever, just driving down the road. I was thinking it may be a short causing the fluttering from the vibration of the moving truck, but noticed this morning that it clicked on and off several times after the truck was parked, turned off, and ignition key removed.
Dont have a wiring diagram for yours, but on my 95 Taurus the one flasher operates the turn signals & the emergency flashers. If yours is wired the same & if the emergency flashers are working normally the multifunction swtch is probably the problem. Does your owners manual only show one flasher?
Absolutely no flashers work. The blinkers and the hazard flashers do not function. If I manually move the turn signal lever and hold it, (like you do when you are pulling out to pass), the lights do not come on.
I believe from the Haynes manual, (don't have it here in front of me), that both turn signal and hazard lights use the same relay.
Your owners manual will probably show that brake lights/turn signals/emergency flashers are all wired to the same fuse. If your brake lights are working i'd test for continuity thru the multifunction switch. This problem would be very simple to figure out if you had the Ford "electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual" from www.helminc.com. About 20 bucks. It will tell you how to test the multifunction switch with an ohm meter. The turn signal lever is attached to the Multifunction switch.
