Taking a look at all the photos of the new dash layout.... how would one upgrade their sound system? I am used to the Double DIN array on the Fords.... but its all hidden now? Anyone have any idea? It kind of struck me as odd.
companies like Metra who make stereo adapters/dash kits already do make a new center dash replacement panel for our trucks so you can install a single or double din aftermarket radio. But I think it comes in just plain black, so it wouldn't match if you had the carbon fiber or faux wood interior trim.
After thinking about it, I suppose someone could simply procure the panel from one of the higher end trim levels (that has the double DIN provision for the Navi).
for those wondering why to upgrade...well the radio in the XLT isn't all that great. Just a basic radio.
Sync is very nice...but pricy to install after the fact
I have to agree, those of us who bought the XLT didn't have the option to buy the sony system, and the basic radio is just ok, nothing like in my Mustang. I still don't know why Ford limited the options to certain models like they did.

I'd have to agree, I have a 09' XL and the radio isn't even a good as my radio that was in my 05' XL. The new one doesn't hold stations like the other one. But if thats the only thing I can find wrong with the truck, I can live with it.
